Newcastle are one of a number of clubs interested in Olympiakos goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino, according to Greek website Sportdog.gr, as cited in Sport Witness.
The 23-year old Greek international has draw attention from a number of clubs across the continent this season, with Club Brugge reportedly currently leading the chase for the ‘keeper at this stage.
Kapino would reportedly only cost €2million (£1.7million), and despite interest from clubs from more prestigious leagues in Udinese, Bologna and the Magpies, it seems that the Jupiler League is the Greek’s most likely destination.
Last transfer window, Newcastle were linked with a number of ‘keepers, including Kapino’s compatriot Orestis Karnezis, Pepe Reina and Rafael Cabral. Kapino though, would represent a move for a future star, with the young Greek showing a lot of potential to develop even further. If he did make the move to Tyneside, it’s unlikely that he’d come in as first-choice.
Kapino has been with Olympiakos since 2015, signing from German club Mainz 05, having also previously played for Olympiakos’ rivals, Panathinaikos.
