It is no secret that Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez wants to add a top quality goalkeeper to his squad to battle for a first-team place with Rob Elliot.
Elliot has been superb so far this season but should he get injured then it leaves Benitez with a problem as he has the inexperienced shot-stopper Freddie Woodman as back-up.
Newcastle are in 11th place in the league table after a good start to the campaign but Benitez knows that a goalkeeper single-handedly can win crucial points for the team over the course of the season.
The manager wants to go and buy an out an out number one, a seasoned, experienced, top-class performer, whether from this country or abroad, who has a proven track record at the highest level, especially in the Premier League.
So, who could be a potential target for Benitez?
We look at five possible goalkeepers that could be brought to St James’ Park in January.
