Newcastle United are interested in signing Udinese goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis and have made an offer but face competition from Serie A club Napoli, according to a report from Italy.
The shot-stopper has been subject to interest from Napoli but Newcastle are hopeful that they can strike an agreement as manager Rafa Benitez looks to sign a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.

The 32-year-old Greek international is hugely experienced and has represented his country 42 times in his career.
The Magpies’ boss Benitez has been pursuing a goalkeeper for some time but has been left empty handed so far this summer, with primary target Willy Caballero opting to join Premier League champions Chelsea.
Newcastle sold shot-stopper Matz Sels earlier in the transfer window and have been looking for a replacement ever since.

Karnezis has been Serie A club Udinese’s first choice goalkeeper for a couple of season but he is still open to a move from the club.
Newcastle have been linked with West Ham United’s goalkeeper Adrian after the London club signed England number one Joe Hart.
However, Karnezis seems a more realistic option with the player keen on a move but Benitez will have to beat his old club to his signature.
