Newcastle United have lost one of their most promising young players as Lewis Gibson completes a move to Everton, as confirmed on the club’s official website.
The defender has signed a three-year contract with Everton and is excited to start life as an Everton player.
Everton is a brilliant club and when the opportunity presented itself I wanted to be part of it. The reputation has long been there that Everton brings through young players. You only have to look at the likes of Tom Davies. Kieran Dowell, Jonjoe Kenny and several others who are battling for first-team places to know this. I’m excited to be part of things here and I want to continue developing as a player. This is where I want to be.

The young defender was offered a professional contract with Newcastle but turned down the opportunity which led to Everton making a swift move for him.
The England international rose through the Newcastle academy and was one of the main players for the Magpies’ U18 squad last season.
The defender was then pushed higher into the reserve team and has now signed for the Merseyside club and is likely to feature heavily as Everton look to defend their Premier League 2 crown.
