According to the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest are close to signing Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy for £2m.
The experienced striker is set to join Forest on a two-year-deal, keeping him at the club until he is 36, which could mean he retires at Forest.
The Championship side want to replace Britt Asombalonga, who left to join Middlesbrough for £15m recently. They are also said to be interested in Cameron Jerome from Norwich.
Newcastle’s fierce rivals Sunderland were apparently looking to sign Murphy but the offer of a two year deal looks like it has persuaded him to choose Forest as his destination.

Murphy is very experienced in the Championship, playing 274 times, scoring 82 and assisting 43 in the second tier of English football, after spells with the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich and Newcastle.
Newcastle are looking to offload some players who Rafa Benitez thinks are not be capable of performing in the Premier League, like Murphy, as they make their return to the league after a year absence.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has also been linked with a move away from The Magpies, which indicates that Benitez will be looking for experienced Premier League strikers in this transfer window.
