Newcastle join Southampton in race for La Liga defender
Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Deportivo Alaves centre-back Zouhair Feddal.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Magpies are weighing up a cut-price deal for the experienced defender.
Feddal has a buyout clause of just £2.6m in his contract and is attracting interest from a number of clubs Both Real Betis and Valencia are reportedly keen to land the 28-year-old, whilst new Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino is also interested in reuniting with the player at St. Mary’s.
Under Pellegrino last term, Feddal enjoyed a successful campaign. He played a part in helping Alaves to a 9th place finish in La Liga, while also helping them to a Copa del Rey final. He scored two goals in 33 appearances for the Spanish outfit.
Newcastle have been linked with a number of centre backs already this summer so time will tell if a move for Feddal materialises.
