Newcastle have made an approach to sign free agent winger Jesus Navas, according to a report from Neil Moxley of The Mirror.
The Spaniard looked set to make a move back to Sevilla after being released by Manchester City but it looks like the player and his former club are still some way apart regarding personal terms and Newcastle are hoping they can capitalise and swoop in.
The Magpies are aware that the player’s preference is to return to Sevilla but if the La Liga side are unable to meet his wage demands, they are ready to offer him a deal of their own.
According to the report, Newcastle have made an approach to Navas’ agent and they are now waiting to see where the player decides to move next.
Rafa Benitez seems keen to add players with Premier League experience to his squad and Navas would certainly bring that if he did make a move to St James’ Park.
