Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is sending young prospects Tom Heardman and Alex Gilliead out on loan to League One clubs today, according to the Chronicle Live.
Centre forward Heardman is set to join up with Lee Clark’s Bury for the season, while young winger Gilliead is set to join last season’s play-off runners-up Bradford City until the new year.
Both signings are set to be completed in the next 48 hours with Benitez willing to let the duo go and play regular first team competitive football, instead of playing in the club’s Under 23 side.
Heardman starred in an impressive season for the Under 23’s, as he scored seven times in 14 appearances has recently been given a new deal to stay on Tyneside.
Gilliead looks set to play against his parent club in a pre-season friendly at the end of the month, with the Magpies set to travel to Bradford on 26th July.
