Newcastle United are interested in Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu, the man who West Ham made a bid for on Friday evening.

The Hammers made an offer of £22million for the DR Congo international, but that was rejected by the La Liga side, which shows the type of figures that Newcastle will need to offer if they do want to sign the forward.

The Magpies would have been hoping to have made more impact in the market this summer with pre-season only round the corner and if they do have their eye on Bakambu, they at least know the ball-park figure that they’ll need to match in order to get him.
Whether the club are prepared to make a club record bid for the 25-year-old remains to be seen.
