Stoke City have joined newly-promoted Newcastle in the race to sign Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo, according to the Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old has also attracted interest from Everton, as his future at the San Siro seems bleaker, with Inter willing to sell as they look to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
With Stoke yet to have sorted skipper Ryan Shawcross with a new deal, Murillo has arisen as a potential replacement for Shawcross, and also an option to tighten up Mark Hughes’ leaky defence.
Inter Milan are said to be willing to sell Murillo for around £15 million, with Newcastle hoping to lure the Colombian to the North-East, where Rafa Benitez’s transfer business is not quite going to plan. Having failed with previous targets, the Spaniard will give all he can to sign Murillo, after former defensive target Ruben Semedo opted for La Liga outfit Villarreal over a move to the Magpies.
Murillo has played 69 times during his two year stint at the San Siro, and has had plenty of experience on the European stage.
