Chelsea’s teenage striker Tammy Abraham has been advised to join Swansea City over Newcastle due to the raucous nightlife in the North-East, Wales Online reports.
Newcastle were keen to sign Abraham on a season long loan, along with fellow promoted side Brighton, but after Chelsea officials said the 19-year-old prospect would have less off-field distractions if he went to Swansea, Abraham opted for the South Wales outfit.
After a successful spell at Bristol City in the Championship last season, Abraham is keen to prove his worth in the top flight, and Paul Clement’s side have given him the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Rafael Benitez is said to already be growing frustrated at the lack of transfers at St James’ Park, and this will be another blow to his preparations for next season. After missing out on strong centre-back Ruben Semedo to Villarreal already, this could be a long summer for Newcastle fans.
