Newcastle United have enquired about the availability of Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, according to a report from the Northern Echo.
The Brazilian midfielder/centre-back was brought to England by Rafa Benitez a decade ago for just £5million and he’s had a very up and down career at Anfield.
However, it looks as though Liverpool will be making additions in midfield and at the heart of the defence and as such, Lucas is set to be pushed even further down the pecking order.

With just one year left on his contract, Lucas’ future seems uncertain and the chance to play more regular football under a manager he knows well could be appealing to him.
Liverpool will reportedly ask for around £4million for the Brazilian, which is relatively cheap in today’s market.
Benitez is looking to add more players with Premier League experience to his squad this summer and Lucas certainly fits the bill.
