Newcastle united are set to make £12m bid for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, as per a report from the Chronicle.
It seems to be pretty common knowledge at this stage that Rafa Benitez is looking to bring in a new central defender as he prepares to begin his first full season in the Premier League as the Magpies manager and it looks like Mangala is the player he has his eye on.

It looks like the North East side are willing to let Grant Hanley leave in order to free up a space in the squad and some wages as Mangala is expected to ask for a sizeable weekly salary.
Manchester City are very likely to let the French international leave this summer as he is clearly surplus to requirements at the Etihad, although it won’t be straight forward for Newcastle to get him with Valencia also apparently keen to get him.
