Vurnon Anita might be leaving the North East this summer as Rafa Benitez tries to inject the squad with some fresh new faces.
With both Anita and Gouffran out of contract this summer, it looks like the Benitez will be releasing theduo, even though they played a big part in United’s promotion this season.
There have been rumours that Anita will be returning to France. The club had reportedly considered signing the duo on a short-term contracts to help build a squad that would challenge in the Premier League. Though, it looks like the manager will now look to bring in some new faces instead of relying on old ones.
Aged 28, Anita will be looking for a last big contract before he ends his career, and could seek for a lucrative deal instead of playing European football. He was linked with Napoli in the Italian press earlier in the week, but there is also interest coming from Holland and Germany.
Bennett hopes to rebuild the squad and reshape hid team this summer but has been told that he needs to work within a budget and the noises from inside the camp suggest that Anita is one of the first to be cut to make room for the next generation.
