Newcastle United are looking to sign at least one new centre-back this summer and have Celtic’s Jozo Simunovic on their list of potential targets, according to a report from Chris Waugh of The Chronicle Live.
According to the report, the 22-year-old is also wanted by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig whilst West Brom, Crystal Palace, Sevilla and Espanyol are also keeping tabs on him.
Newcastle have scouted the Croatian on numerous occasions over the last few months and are likely to watch him in the cup final this weekend too as they look to find improvements ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.
According to the report, Celtic are keen to keep hold of Simunovic and they won’t even entertain bids of less than £10million.
Losing the centre-back would be a blow for Brendan Rodgers so it’s more than likely that he’ll stay at the club next season, unless one of the interested parties makes a huge bid for him, one that simply can’t be rejected.
