Rafa Benitez has held talks with Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and he has apparently been told that he will have significant funds to spend in the summer and according to Dominic King of the Daily Mail, he wants to spend some of this cash on Manchester City duo Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala.
King reports that Benitez has already held talks with City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain about the availability of the duo, both of whom are expected to be sold this summer.

Fernando has featured just 12 times this season and with City having a plethora of midfield options, the club won’t stand in his way if a suitable bid is made.
Mangala never really settled at City and has spent the season on loan with Valencia but the Spanish side have not actived the purchase clause in the loan agreement, so he looks set to return to City in the short-term before being allowed to leave.
The duo would certainly add more physicality to the Newcastle squad and would provide the Premier League experience that Benitez wants to ass
