Newcastle are one of several teams interested in making a move for Burnley striker Andre Gray.
According to a report from the Mirror, the 25-year-old has emerged as a target for the Magpies as they look to build in the summer with a return to the Premier League expected.
Gray’s contract with the Clarets expires in the summer of 2018 and there has been no further progress made in negotiations to extend his stay at Turf Moor, putting Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle on red alert.
The former Brentford man has been in good form this season, bagging eight goals in all competitions, with two of them coming yesterday in Burnley’s 3-2 defeat away at Swansea City.
However, if Newcastle are serious about their pursuit of Gray, they may need to fend off competition from a trio of Premier League clubs. Southampton, Stoke and West Ham are all claimed to have shown an interest.
