According to Shields Gazette, Gini Wijnaldum is due on Merseyside to have talks with Liverpool ahead of a proposed move from Newcastle.
Newcastle are demanding £25m for the attacking midfielder, but the report says that Liverpool are closing in on a deal for the Dutchman. This means that Liverpool are likely to have offered a fee in the region of £20-25m for Wijnaldum.
Everton, Southampton and Tottenham have all also been credited with interest in the midfielder, but it looks as though Jurgen Klopp’s side are set to steal a march over them all and land his signature.
Wijnaldum scored 11 goals in the Premier League for Newcastle last season and is eager to leave following the club’s relegation. Newcastle finished 18th in the top-flight last term, resulting in their relegation to the Championship.
The 25-year-old Dutchman wants to move back to the Premier League and it appears he is closing in on his wish with a move to Liverpool.
