The Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle United are interested in Newport County teenager Aaron Collins, after scouting him at Newport’s win against Carlisle.
After acquiring youngster Ivan Toney during the summer, they join a long list of clubs waiting to pounce for the centre-forward. Newport County were approached by Burnley on deadline day with a bid of £65,000 up front and many future add-ons, however, this was rejected by the club.
Collins comes with gleaming recommendation from Chris Coleman after his promising performance for the Wales U19 team. He has, however, been warned by current manager Terry Butcher, not to leap at his first opportunity, in case a better one comes around.
He has played fifteen times for Newport County, scoring twice and getting an equal number of assists. He signed his first professional contract for the club in 2014. With Newcastle currently looking to add to their development squad, it seems as if Aaron Collins would be an excellent addition.
