Hector Cabella (Remy’s father) has dismissed reports that his son Remy is unhappy with life on Tyneside and is seeking a move back to France.
Reports in France claimed that Remy Cabella was in discussions with Marseille over a potential summer, after a difficult first season in the Premier League. Cabella joined the Magpies in a £12million deal from Montpellier last summer, but has failed to cement his place in the first-team.
Hector said: “My son is fine in Newcastle. He will resume his club on 1 July. It has the ambition to make a great season for Euro 2016. We have no discussions with OM or anyone. He signed six years [last summer], and he will not leave after one season.”
Although Cabella did not play a pivotal role last season, the Geordie faithful will be relieved to see the 25-year-old will not depart from St James’ Park this summer.
Here’s how several Newcastle fans reacted to the news on Twitter:
Remy Cabella. played out of position by a moron head coach, not coached by NUFC's poor backroom staff. utter diamond. will be phenomenal
