# Newcastle United hit with fresh suspension blow as three players face Fulham ban risk

Newcastle United will be without Jacob Ramsey for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Fulham after the midfielder was sent off against Everton.

Matthias Jaissle must now prepare for the visit to Craven Cottage without Ramsey. He received two yellow cards during Monday night’s 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park.

The dismissal came in stoppage time and means the Newcastle midfielder will serve a one-match suspension. He will be available again after the international break when the Magpies host Arsenal.

Ramsey became the first Newcastle player to be suspended this season. He was also the last player to be dismissed from the club. Picking up two cards in the 2-1 win against Manchester United in March.

Jaissle will now have to deal with another setback due to Ramsey’s absence. They are looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat against Everton.

## **Newcastle have three players approaching suspension**

Ramsey is the only player currently suspended for the Fulham fixture. That said, Newcastle have several other players who must be careful with their discipline.

Jacob Murphy, Yoane Wissa and Nico Gonzalez have all picked up three yellow cards in the Premier League this season.

That puts them just two cards away from receiving a one-match suspension after five yellows.

Under Premier League rules, any player who receives five bookings in their team’s first 19 league games will be banned for one match.

With Newcastle having 10 games left to play, the trio will need to avoid getting any more cards to avoid an automatic suspension.

Joelinton, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar have also received two yellow cards apiece.

Dan Burn, Lewis Hall, Anthony Elanga, Lukas Hornicek, Tino Livramento, Lewis Miley, William Osula and Ramsey have each been booked once.

Ramsey’s dismissal does not increase his Premier League yellow-card tally to three. His two bookings resulted in a red card, which counts separately for the purposes of the accumulation threshold.

## **Two Newcastle injury doubts remain ahead of Fulham**

There are a few fitness concerns to consider for Jaissle when he names his team for Saturday.

Both Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley are still a doubt following their absence for the last three games against Newcastle.

Neither has been confirmed to be fit for the Fulham game, and the manager is waiting to hear more.

Tino Livramento and Ewen Jaouen are definitely out due to continuing to recover from knee and hamstring injuries.

There are no suspension worries to consider. However, the injuries could limit Jaissle’s options due to Ramsey being absent.

## **Newcastle must improve discipline for busy fixture schedule**

This could become an issue for Newcastle as the season progresses.

Under Premier League rules, players will face a 2-game suspension if they receive 10 yellow cards in their first 32 league games.

A player who receives 15 bookings in the season will be suspended for 3 games.

Joelinton suffered this punishment last season.

Cup games in the domestic competitions won’t count towards bookings in the Premier League but any red card suspensions will be enforced in the domestic competitions.

Jaissle’s main concern for now is finding a way to get a positive result from Fulham without Ramsey.

Newcastle will be looking for a strong reaction after the loss to Everton but will also want to make sure that their players don’t get any unnecessary bookings.
