# Turkish giants coming in again for Newcastle United midfielder they missed in the summer

**Joe Willock is the subject of another expected January move after he missed out on moving during the summer despite interest from Turkey.**

Besiktas are preparing a fresh move for Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock ahead of the January transfer window, with the Turkish club ready to make an offer worth £8.5m.

According to [Aksam](https://www.aksam.com.tr/spor/yeniden-joe-willock/haber-1710576), the Black Eagles are keen to bring the 27-year-old to Turkey after failing to secure his signature during the summer.

[Besiktas](https://readnewcastle.com/tag/besiktas/) previously tried to sign Joe Willock with a €18 million offer, but the move eventually collapsed after Matthias Jaissle took charge at St James’ Park and decided to keep the midfielder.

## **Besiktas prepare fresh Joe Willock approach**

Willock’s contract at [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/tag/newcastle-united/) is entering its final six months at the end of the season, putting the club in a difficult position ahead of the January window.

The midfielder will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs in January, meaning Newcastle could face the prospect of losing him for free next summer if they fail to agree a new deal or sanction a sale.

However, Joe Willock has previously spoken positively about his time at the club and his changing role within the squad.

“I feel valued here. It is my fifth year at this club and I feel I have matured both personally and in my role within the squad. With so many young players coming through, my role is slightly different this season—I want to guide them while continuing to develop my own career,” [Willock said, as quoted by Turkish Football](https://turkish-football.com/besiktas-reignite-interest-in-newcastle-united-midfielder-joe-willock/).

## **Jaissle continues to trust Willock**

Despite the transfer uncertainty, Joe Willock remains part of Jaissle’s plans at Newcastle.

The German manager has handed him 11 appearances across all competitions this season and has been rewarded with several strong performances.

Willock’s career at St James’ Park has been marred by injuries and inconsistency. The prospect of losing him for free next summer will certainly influence The Magpies’ decision. They will have to decide whether to retain him with a new deal or consider a January sale rather than risk losing him without a transfer fee next summer.

What Besiktas is offering is a fair price for a player who will enter his final 6 months of the contract in January. With the price and conditions, Newcastle United may be tempted to sell him.
