# Newcastle United v Crystal Palace Match Preview: Jaissle Makes Five Changes at Selhurst Park

This Newcastle United v Crystal Palace match preview starts with a flurry of team news. Head coach Matthias Jaissle has made five changes to his Newcastle line-up for today’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park, with kick-off at 2pm GMT.

A big change sees Dan Burn and Fabian Schär starting their first league game of the season, whilst Will Osula comes back in to spearhead the attack. This is an exciting change for the Premier League clash.

## **Newcastle United Team News: An Experienced Back Four**

Experience is the focus. Burn leads the team with Schär and Amar Dedić back in the starting eleven. Lewis Hall and Lukáš Horníček both retain their positions, in left back and goal, respectively. However, Sven Botman and Malick Thiaw are named on the bench, meaning Jaissle has quality on hand should they get into a tricky situation during the afternoon.

The changes carry into midfield, where Nico González partners Joelinton. Joe Willock plays in an advanced role, with Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes providing the width. It is a balanced Newcastle United line-up, with industry in the middle and pace on the flanks. The Magpies will need both to make an impact against Crystal Palace.

## **Osula Returns to Lead the Line**

Osula is back in the starting line-up for the first time since he limped out in the opening game of the season against Liverpool. He will have the chance to make an impact in the Premier League. If he is sharp and sees early chances, he could prove the difference in south London.

Wissa moves to the bench, making him an appealing late-game option. His presence means that Jaissle will have a high quality forwards option on the bench to shift the balance of the game if it is still very tight.

## **Bench Options and Key Questions**

Anthony Elanga returns from injury and is added to the subs, meaning he could play for the first time since early September. Jacob Ramsey comes back into the squad too, providing extra creativity. Nick Pope, Aladji Bamba, Sean Steur and Bazoumana Touré have also been named in the subs. Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley are left out of the game day squad.

The key factor in this one will be whether the new defensive look can get into their stride. If Burn and Schär can get into rhythm and Osula gets into the box, then Newcastle will feel they have a game to win. This game may prove to be a pivotal one in the Newcastle United team news.
