# Miley boost and returning stars lift Newcastle ahead of Coventry trip

*Matthias Jaissle could have several players back for Monday night, but the head coach is urging caution*

The latest Newcastle United injury news is a positive one for Matthias Jaissle. Lewis Miley seems set to be fit for Monday night’s Premier League trip to Coventry City. Calming fears that were raised when he pulled out of the England under-21s squad last week.

The concern came just 11 days before the Magpies travel to the Coventry Building Society Arena. Newcastle’s official Instagram account then shared several clips of the midfielder in training on Friday. There’s a strong hint that he will be involved.

## **An ever-present in the making**

The 20-year-old has started all five of United’s Premier League games this season. He was also forced into action at right-back for the 2-1 win over Hull City before the three-week international break. Amar Dedic and Tino Livramento were both injured.

His rapid return to action is a boost, though he is likely to find himself in a stiffer battle for the starting role as players return to the fold.

## **‘Three or four’ set to return**

Jaissle confirmed at his pre-match press conference on Thursday that “three or four” players could be back in the squad against Coventry. He stopped short of naming them. Training footage offers some clues, with Will Osula, Nico Gonzalez, Joelinton and Dedic all spotted.

Joelinton was partially involved in training last week, and Jaissle said he is progressing “better and better”. But the head coach was careful to temper expectations, stressing the need to be smart with load management. The returning players, he said, have the potential to be in the squad but “for sure not in the starting 11”.

## **Burn close; others still unclear**

Dan Burn is also poised to return and is expected to be back in a matter of days. Despite failing to appear in the footage released by the club. But Newcastle have yet to reveal potential return dates for Livramento, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey. This leaves a few nagging question marks over the depth of the squad.

There is bad news elsewhere. Ewen Jaouen is set to miss up to two months after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty with France under-21s. This adds to the list of players who have returned from the break with knocks.

## **Squad depth tested**

With players returning to training, Newcastle’s options are set to improve at a crucial time. Coventry will provide a tough test, but Jaissle will hope to see a full squad help his team get back on track after the break and that Miley’s scare is nothing more than a blip.
