# Newcastle United signing officially confirmed after deadline day

It would be an understatement to say that [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/2026/09/03/matthias-jaissle-reveals-real-reason-newcastle-united-player-left/) were busy this summer. Whether it be outgoings or incomings, the Magpies did their bit and then some.

For the most part, the club focused on signing youngsters who are expected to develop at St James’ Park rather than arrive as finished articles. And naturally, if some of them are not playing immediately, that is not a cause for concern.

On the other hand, there have been some late-window signings that have grabbed the headlines. Nico Gonzalez has arrived from Manchester City and was excellent in his debut against Tottenham Hotspur. The club will be hoping for the same from Matias Fernandez-Pardo as well.

The likes of Gonzalez and Fernandez-Pardo will need to make their presence felt as early as possible. On the other hand, there are also some signings that have not been officially announced, but have been made.

## Ousmane Diabate signing confirmed through Premier League

The [Premier League’s official website](https://www.premierleague.com/en/news/4706139/see-all-the-202627-premier-league-squad-lists) recently put out the list of players that were submitted by clubs following the summer transfer window.

The one for [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/tag/newcastle-united/) mentions the name of Ousmane Diabate under the U21 players section and mentions that he is currently out on loan.

For those who have been keeping a close eye, the signing of Diabate has been an open secret for quite some time. But if you have not, then this is one that would have been very easy to miss.

Newcastle United have never officially made an announcement regarding the move. But they did end up putting Diabate’s name on the list sent to the Premier League.

## Diabate staying out on loan is the right step

Perhaps Newcastle United did not make an announcement regarding the signing of Diabate because he is set to spend the season out on loan at Genclerbirligi, from where he has been signed.

That is the right step for his development in senior football though. He was never going to get enough playing time if he moved to Newcastle United right now.

At Genclerbirligi, one would imagine that there is a spot for him. And a year down the line, he will be more ready to make an impact at Newcastle United.

He will most probably get the signing announcement at that point. Until then, we can only wish him the best and hope he enjoys a fantastic season ahead.
