# Newcastle monitoring £68m move for Milan Skriniar

Newcastle United “would love” to bring Inter Milan’s [£68million](https://www.90min.com/posts/inter-set-milan-skriniar-price-tag-amid-psg-interest)defender Milan Skriniar to St. James’ Park.

**What’s the word?**

That is according to journalist[Pete O’Rourke](https://twitter.com/sportspeteo), who has detailed Skriniar as a profile that would suit Eddie Howe.

Speaking to [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/88094725-newcastle-united-transfer-news-sign-st-james-park), O’Rourke said: *“If they were to go on and clinch a place in next season’s Champions League, it will only boost their chances of signing players such as Skriniar.*

*“He’s out of contract in the summer, so if he doesn’t agree a new deal at Inter Milan, I’m sure Newcastle would love the opportunity to try and bring him to St James’ Park.”*

**The final piece**

For the last four seasons, Skriniar has been a fundamental part of the Inter Milan side which has ranked in the[top three Serie A defences consecutively.](https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/55/stats/season/16621/teams/goals_conceded_team_match/team/8636)

Whilst Inter’s defence has not been as strong across the first half of this season, Skriniar has still kept up his solid defensive numbers and has improved some of his metrics on the ball.

Last season, the Slovakian averaged around [56 accurate passes per 90](https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/55/stats/season/16621/players/accurate_pass/team/8636) and now ranks [second-highest](https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/55/stats/season/17866/players/accurate_pass/team/8636/inter-players) in the squad for his sum of around [65 accurate passes per 90.](https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/55/stats/season/17866/players/accurate_pass/team/8636/inter-players)

At 27-years-old, in and around the prime years of his career, he has become a lot more well-rounded as an asset, with his metrics suggesting that he’d fit any possession-playing side in World football.

As such, the PIF-led project at Champions League-chasing Newcastle could prove to be an exciting move for the star whose contract [expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/milan-skriniar/profil/spieler/204069) at the end of the season.

This is one to watch as we approach January.
