Newcastle United’s January transfer target Gonzalo Plata is a realistic target and could be “very gettable” in the upcoming window.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who understands the Magpies would like to bring in a winger in the winter window.

And the journalist is adamant that with Plata’s profile and price tag, he would serve as a very viable option for the Tyneside outfit to bolster the wide position for the second half of the season.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “It is a position that Newcastle would like to add to, they do want to bring in [a winger].

“He’s a pacey winger who can play wide on the left.

“I think he could be somebody who could be very gettable this January transfer window.

“Especially with his price tag, I don’t think Real Valladolid would be in any position to turn down any sizable offer for his signature.”

Plata very possible

Plata’s parent club Real Valladolid could be set for a fast turnover having made the Ecuadorian’s loan move permanent in the summer.

In the 10 La Liga games that the 22-year-old has played for Ronaldo-owned Valladolid, he has failed to score but does lead the assist total for the team with two.

The World Cup star is a direct threat from the right wing and could well be the long-term successor of Miguel Almiron with his inverted approach.

The former Sporting CP man’s average of 2.7 successful dribbles and total of 11 chances created thus far puts him in good stead for the future, but for Newcastle right now, he would most likely arrive as a depth option.
