Newcastle United’s transfer coup of Bruno Guimaraes was an “unbelievable piece of business” that Eddie Howe “couldn’t believe.”
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, who has informed GIVEMESPORT of Newcastle’s shock in managing to bag an esteemed Brazilian international at such a low price-point.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Downie said: “You have to say what a steal it was from Newcastle to get him for the £36 million – an unbelievable piece of business. I remember speaking to Eddie Howe about it at the time and he couldn’t believe that they’d managed to get him for that, and you can see exactly why they were so desperate to get him.”
Unbelievable business
Since making the switch from Lyon back in January, Guimaraes has endured a wonderful time on Tyneside and is helping to lead the club to Champions League qualification.
For just £36million, it is no wonder that Howe was in shock.
In Bruno, we’re talking about an esteemed and vital cog in the Newcastle engine room, with his status as a Brazil international telling you everything you need to know about his technical proficiency.
Alongside his three goals and two assists in 11 Premier League games this season, the 24-year-old has asserted himself as the string-puller in the side, topping the charts for most accurate passes with a total of around 46 per game and creating 16 chances also – the second highest ranking in the squad for this metric.
His coup has been massive for the Toon, who will share his desire in wanting to return to the holy grail of club football competition, the Champions League.
