Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has been informed that he has an easy decision to make in leaving the club, with Newcastle United a side tipped to offer him a Premier League lifeline.
That is according to BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Alan Hutton who “100 per cent” believes that the USA captain would favour a move to St James’ Park.
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: “It is pretty much an easy decision. He has come back into the Chelsea team in recent weeks but he has not really been playing a position where he feels most comfortable. But he is back within the playing squad.
“If Newcastle did come in for him it is something that he would definitely sit up and want to think about. I think there is only one direction that they are going in at the moment and it is definitely something that you would want to be part of.
“It will be a huge decision for him and I do not think he would take that one lightly.“
Mutual benefits
With Newcastle mooted to be on the lookout for a winger in the upcoming January transfer window, Pulisic is a player who can come in and fit the bill nicely.
As a versatile attacker who is able to play both centrally and out wide, the 24-year-old would be able to shine on the left-wing for the Toon, offering a service that could see him deliver the ball into dangerous areas, or cut inside and cause direct attacking threat due to his comfortability in using both feet.
In many ways, Pulisic would be the greatest figure to come into the Newcastle fray at this moment in time.
The £58million man has a point to prove, after enduring a slow demise in SW6 since his first Premier League campaign that saw him notch 13 attacking returns in the form of nine goals and four assists.
So far, the American has made just three starts in the Premier League, with chances for regular minutes seemingly rare no matter what he does.
Having scored against Wolves in Chelsea’s 3-0 win in early October, Pulisic played a combined 45 minutes across the next two games, coming off the bench on both occasions.
A move to St James’ Park could be perfect for Pulisic and would offer Eddie Howe a potentially deadly option out-wide.
