## **A big behind-scenes deal**

Since his [arrival](https://theathletic.com/news/newcastle-confirm-signing-of-lyon-midfielder-bruno-guimaraes/d6QWPQitYR1G/) from Lyon in the winter transfer window, Guimaraes has been integral to Eddie Howe’s side, quickly becoming the string-puller in the engine room, having averaged a total of [47.3 accurate passes per 90](https://www.fotmob.com/teams/10261/stats/newcastle-united/players) in the Premier League this season.

The [£120k-per-week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/newcastle-united-fc/bruno-guimar%C3%A3es-75696/#:~:text=Current%20Contract,cap%20hit%20of%20%C2%A36%2C240%2C000.) star has also chipped in with direct attacking contributions – conjuring up a total of four, split between [two goals](https://www.fotmob.com/players/850354/bruno-guimaraes)and [two assists](https://www.fotmob.com/players/850354/bruno-guimaraes) in ten league appearances so far this season.

All in all, his efforts have seen him endure a rapid rise to become the “main man” according to [talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1585246037484048384) who also adds that “he’s tenacious, can pick a pass & score” deeming him “the number 1 signing!”

With Guimaraes, you can essentially name any [outfield metric](https://www.fotmob.com/teams/10261/stats/newcastle-united/players) and he is almost guaranteed to rank in the top three in comparison to the Magpies’ squad – he’s that important!

Extending Guimaraes’ stay at St James’ Park could be key to Newcastle’s long-term success, with the Brazilian providing a sturdy foundation in the middle of the park to great effect.

This could be a big behind-scenes deal for Howe and co.
