Fabrizio Romano drops Newcastle update on £40m maestro

Esteemed football journalist Fabrizio Romano has issued an update regarding Newcastle United’s £40million maestro.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian spoke of the Tyneside outfit’s intent to keep hold of Bruno Guimaraes, who signed for the club in the winter transfer window.

With “many top clubs” said to be interested in the star, Romano took to his personal page to issue the update: “Newcastle plans for Bruno Guimarães remain very clear and won’t change: the club wants to offer him a new long term contract with salary improved, as reported last month.

“Many top clubs are interested in signing Bruno in 2023 but Newcastle want to keep him.”

Ashworth’s next step

Newcastle United fans will be glad to hear of the club’s plans to keep hold of their 24-year-old, who is the “complete package” in the centre of the park.

In order to shut down interest from the “top clubs” that Romano alluded to, sporting director Dan Ashworth’s next step will see him sign the Brazil international up on improved terms.

There is no doubting the impact that Bruno has had on Eddie Howe’s side, with his ability on the ball seeing him perform as the string-puller for the side.

His average of 45.2 passes in the Premier League this season places him top of the squad, with a further eight outfield metrics seeing him place in the top three, in comparison to the rest of the squad, as per FOTMOB.

To put it simply, he is integral to the side and Newcastle should do whatever they can to keep hold of him long-term.
