Reports from France have claimed that Newcastle United are ‘keen to secure the services’ of Youri Tielemans and will make an offer in January.
Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope tweeted at the end of August that the 25-year-old had been on the Magpies’ “list” for some time, although no deal came to fruition before the transfer window shut.
The Belgian midfielder has remained at Leicester City, but with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, the Toon are seemingly plotting a move to take advantage of his precarious situation in the Midlands.

According to Jeunes Footeux, Newcastle are set to rival Arsenal for the 25-year-old and are ‘currently pushing hard’ to win the race for his signature.
It’s reported that PIF are ‘keen to secure the services’ of Tielemans and plan ‘to go on the offensive’ from January with a €20m (£17.4m) offer.
The French media outlet does point out that it remains to be seen if the player is willing to make the move to the northeast.
Worthy target
Heralded for his ‘outstanding’ talent and labelled “one of Europe’s top midfielders” by his current boss Brendan Rodgers, Tielemans could be a very useful option for Eddie Howe.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has also waxed lyrical about the 52-cap Belgium ace, dubbing him a “top, top-class player” in the past, no faint praise coming from a coach with 32 trophies to his name.
At 25 years of age, he already has a wealth of experience in the big five leagues in Europe, and with his 6.89 WhoScored rating bettering all but two Newcastle midfielders, there seems little doubt that he’d greatly enhance Howe’s squad.
