Newcastle United are hopeful that star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will return soon.
That’s according to journalist Pete O’Rourke who has been speaking to GIVEMESPORT amid the Brazilian’s injury trouble.
Bruno has missed each of the Toon’s last three games with a hamstring issue and he recently expressed on NUFCTV via Shields Gazzette that he was ‘working hard’ to get back to full fitness.
With Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson also on the shelf, Eddie Howe’s charges have collected just two points from the last nine on offer without a win since the opening weekend.
Without doubt the English coach will be itching for his star names to return as the Magpies look to climb from their current position of 11th and it appears that Bruno is close to healing.
Speaking to GMS O’Rourke said: “I’m sure Bruno Guimaraes isn’t too far away, and they’re pretty hopeful that he could be back soon. He’s already such a key player for Eddie Howe and Newcastle.”
Indeed the eight-cap Brazil international has enjoyed his spell on Tyneside thus far since a £40m move from Lyon back in January.
The Olympic gold medalist scored five goals in 17 games for the club last season and he posted a 7.25 SofaScore rating for the campaign ranking second among his teammates.
It has become clear why Arsenal, PSG and Manchester United were all reportedly interested before Dan Ashworth brokered a deal and with fixtures postponed this weekend due to the Queen’s passing it will afford Bruno more time to rehabilitate from his injury.
