Allan Saint-Maximin posts positive injury update

Newcastle United ace Allan Saint-Maximin has posted an encouraging update on his Intsagram account surrounding his hamstring injury.

Posting to his story on Sunday afternoon the flashy French winger pictured himself continuing his rehab from a hamstring injury.

He has missed the last two games for Eddie Howe’s side after picking up the problem in the latter stages of the 1-1 draw at Wolves after firing home an equaliser for the Toon.

It came after he grabbed two assists and drew the free which Kieran Trippier converted in a thrilling 3-3 draw with the champions Manchester City at St. James’ Park leading his opponent on the day Kyle Walker to admit that it was one of the ‘toughest’ games he has had in a long time.

Howe will certainly be hoping the impressive Saint-Maximin returns soon after drawing a blank at home to Crystal Palace and it does seem as if he isn’t far away as he shared on his social media account with the caption ‘No day off, back soon’:

You would think that both Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes would be in contention for the trip to West Ham this Sunday given his latest post and as the Magpies sit 11th and without a win in the Premier League since the opening day of the season against Nottingam Forest his return could be the catalyst to an uplift in form.

The 25-year-old has provided two assists and one goal already this season creating 1.25 chances per 90 and only Kieran Trippier (7.55) has outperformed his 7.53 average SofaScore rating for the season.

His performance against City led to former Premeier League winner Micah Richards to say on Sky Sports (via Daily Mail) that it was the ‘best’ he had ever seen ASM play and the Newcastle faithful will be delighted to see that he is nearing a return to action.
