Kieran Trippier impressed against Crystal Palace

Newcastle United were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, but Eddie Howe will be pleased with the performance of his players. Kieran Trippier was one of many who impressed and earned plaudits for doing everything in his power to win Newcastle the game.

The 31-year-old started at right-back and was the Magpies’ biggest threat going forwards, creating more chances and whipping in more crosses than any player on the pitch. Trippier was also good defensively, turning the ball over while not giving away fouls, so he can be pleased with his contribution.

Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live gave the defender a player rating of 8/10 and praised his efforts in trying to conjure a goal. Dominic Scurr of Shields Gazette gave Trippier a player rating of 8/10 and said he didn’t let much past him on the right flank.

Against Palace, Trippier played for 90 minutes, had 68 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 75.7% of his 37 passes, created six chances, had one shot, made two tackles, whipped in 15 crosses with 53% finding a teammate, made two interceptions, was fouled twice and made two clearances.

Trippier has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal while playing every minute of every Premier League game so far.
