Newcastle exit hasn’t gone well for Isaac Hayden

Isaac Hayden joined Norwich City on a season-long loan this season after he fell down the pecking order under Eddie Howe, but the 27-year-old has yet to make an appearance for the Canaries as he’s been sidelined with injury since January.

Hayden underwent knee surgery at the beginning of the year that saw him out of action until the summer, but he went under the knife again in July and is still recovering. The defensive-midfielder will have been desperate to play after a lack of games at Newcastle, but he’s having to be patient.

Hayden is closer to making his debut for Norwich, however, after Dean Smith gave a positive injury update days ago. He revealed the 27-year-old is back in light training and has been running on grass, so he should feature in September.

Hayden stood little chance of getting in the Newcastle side with Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joelinton for competition, so his move to Norwich benefitted all parties. Here’s hoping he’ll have an injury-free rest of the season so he can get a good amount of games.

In other news, Newcastle exit hasn’t gone well for Ciaran Clark

matchday.
