Newcastle United came from behind late in the game to draw 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon and Kieran Trippier was one of many players to impress.
The 31-year-old started at right-back and was a constant threat offensively with regular balls into the box, but he also did a job defensively, keeping Jonny from completing a dribble or creating a chance while limiting Pedro Neto to just one shot on target and getting him substituted late in the game.
Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live gave Trippier a player rating of 7/10 and said he was a ‘big influence’ going forward. Dominic Scurr of Shields Gazette gave him a player rating of 7/10 and praised him for being a ‘threat’ down the right flank.
Against Wolves, Trippier played for 90 minutes, had 77 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 76% of his 50 passes, created two chances, whipped in 13 crosses, made two tackles, had two clearances, won one freekick and made one successful dribble.
Trippier has made five appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with one assist. He can be pleased with his performance over the weekend.
