# Newcastle should sell Almiron amid Everton and Fulham interest

Newcastle United are expected to strengthen in the transfer market ahead of a top-six push next season, but Eddie Howe also has decisions to make on which existing players he feels aren’t good enough to help the Magpies in their quest.

Karl Darlow, Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie, Javier Manquillo, Isaac Hayden and Dwight Gayle have struggled for playing time and might be on the chopping block, but there are regulars in the first-team who Howe has a quandary with.

One of them is Miguel Almiron. The 28-year-old has made [30 Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/leistungsdaten/spieler/272999) this season but has scored just one goal without registering an assist. Almiron can operate on both flanks and is a hard-working player, but his poor output is a problem.

[Roberto Rojas](https://twitter.com/RobertoRojas97/status/1529047437750452224) says Everton, Fulham, Sevilla and Napoli are interested in the Paraguay international, so Newcastle might have a way to cash in on him this summer. The Magpies [paid £21.6m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/transfers/spieler/272999) in 2019, but it’s hard to see a suitor paying close to that after this season.

Newcastle were 12th in the [league](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/8618/Stages/19793/TeamStatistics/England-Premier-League-2021-2022) for goals (44), so it’s obvious what the solution is. Almiron only [creates a chance](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/303924/Show/Miguel-Almir%C3%B3n) every 101 minutes and registers just one shot on target every 246 minutes and has whips in an accurate cross every 430 minutes, so he’s not good enough.
