# Journalists say Sean Longstaff was ‘excellent’ v Burnley

Newcastle United signed off the season with a [2-1 win over Burnley](https://www.nufc.co.uk/matches/first-team/2021-22/burnley-v-newcastle-united/) on Sunday afternoon and Sean Longstaff delivered one of his best performances at Turf Moor. The 24-year-old started alongside Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes in midfield and was defensively resolute over 90 minutes.

The 24-year-old is in talks with Newcastle over a new deal and looks to have a bright future at St James’ Park if he can replicate such performances.
