# Michael Bridges says Newcastle could sign Rogic

Tom Rogic is on his way out of Celtic this summer, ending a nine-year stint in the Scottish capital that saw him make [272 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-rogic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/213672) in all competitions, scoring 46 goals with 49 assists, and Michael Bridges believes Newcastle United could sign him.

The 29-year-old has been a regular under Ange Postecoglou this season, scoring six goals with six assists in [27 Premiership games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-rogic/leistungsdaten/spieler/213672). Newcastle don’t have a central playmaker and have been reliant on their creativity coming from out wide, so Bridges believes the Magpies could benefit from signing Rogic.

He said on [Optus Sport’s podcast GegenPod](https://open.spotify.com/episode/1E32y9R2GbkUavXPwwtSYH?si=-K6Z0F7xQiqrATy_oHp2Jg&nd=1): “I’d like to see Rogic getting to a Premier League football club. I still think he has something to offer. I wouldn’t mind seeing him at Newcastle actually. I think they are going to go bigger and better but Newcastle could be an option.”

The Toon Army are 12th in the [Premier League](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/England-Premier-League) for goals (42), so Eddie Howe could bring in a creative player and prolific striker. Newcastle don’t have a central midfielder with more than one assist to their name, so Rogic could fill a void if signed – he won’t break the bank being a free transfer and earning [£16k-per-week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/tom-rogic/) in Scotland.

But with the Magpies having lucrative funds following their [takeover](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/pif-pcp-capital-partners-and-rb-sports-media-acquire-newcastle-united-football-club/) by Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, they might have some bigger names than Rogic on their shortlist.
