Newcastle United are in fine form of late, boasting three wins and two draws from their last five games, and Allan Saint-Maximin has heavily contributed to their recent success. The 24-year-old has two goals in his last five Premier League appearances, creating 10 chances, having 31 successful dribbles and taking 12 shots.
Saint-Maximin was outstanding in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Everton and decent in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa, earning him praise from Chris Sutton. The 48-year-old said of the Frenchman on 5 Live Sport’s The Monday Night Club: “He is an incredible player, he really is.
“It looks like he’s playing a different game to most Premier League players, the way he goes past defenders.” Saint-Maximin has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals with three assists. The 24-year-old was previously linked with a move away from Newcastle but looks at home in the North-East.
Saint-Maximin is beloved by supporters and the feeling is mutual, so his future looks to be at St James’ Park. And now the Magpies have significant investment following their takeover by Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, there’s no reason for players to leave.
