Fans on social media say ‘terrible’ Ryan Fraser ‘has done nothing’ since 2020 move

Ryan Fraser spent the tail end of last season out with injury but recovered over the summer to become a regularly for Newcastle United in his second year. The 27-year-old hasn’t been at his best, however, which has drawn criticism from supporters for the club’s poor investment.

Fraser has made 38 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies since joining on a five-year deal from Bournemouth, scoring one goal with four assists. The Scottish international has made 16 appearances this campaign, managing just one assist, so he’s fallen shot of expectations.

And after Fraser underperformed in Saturday’s FA Cup third round defeat to Cambridge United, fans on social media criticised him and don’t believe he’s been a good servant 18 months into his stay at St James’ Park.

Fraser still has three-and-a-half years on his deal in the North-East, but it remains to be seen if he’ll see them out. The 27-year-old was brought in to create chances of contribute goals, but he’s done very little of both.

That being said, Eddie Howe has an existing relationship with Fraser based on their time together at Bournemouth which could see him turn things around in time.
