# Fans on social media want Boubacar Kamara at Newcastle in 2022

Newcastle United are spoilt for choice in midfield with Isaac Hayden, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Jonjo Shelvey and Jeff Hendrick at their disposal, but the Magpies are expected to bolster their engine room when the winter transfer window opens.

Newcastle tried to sign Boubacar Kamara from Olympique Marseille without success last summer and will return for the 22-year-old in January, says *Martin Hardy* of [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/newcastle-united-january-transfer-news-boubacar-kamara-tosin-adarabioyo-xvjppqdkj). Kamara is out of contract at the Stade Velodrome next year, so he could be available on a free transfer.

It appears fans on [social media](https://twitter.com/search?q=Boubacar%20Kamara&src=typed_query&f=live) wouldn’t mind Kamara being a Newcastle signing.

> Kamara would be an amazing signing.

> I like the fact [#nufc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/nufc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) owners & Howe are looking at players that might be up for a fight. There's good players there that improve us, even if its a small margin. Cook,Ake,Botman,Tarkowski,Trippier,Kamara,Choudhury,Cajuste,Alli,Maitland-Niles,Lingard all improve our side.

The 6ft defensive midfielder rose through the youth ranks to Marseille’s first-team, making [141 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/394327) in all competitions, scoring four goals with five assists. Kamara has been a regular under Jorge Sampaoli this season, featuring in [19 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/leistungsdaten/spieler/394327) across the board, but his future is uncertain.

L’OM are [trying](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2021/boubacar-kamara-offered-two-year-contract-extension-by-marseille-player-unsure/) to tie the 22-year-old down to a new deal but aren’t having much luck and [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3011228/2021/12/13/ornstein-legal-failure-putting-women-at-risk-spurs-to-let-dele-leave-kamara-to-go-for-free/) say he’s expected to leave for nothing in the coming months.

Newcastle are one of the [richest clubs](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/12428222/newcastle-takeover-how-and-why-newcastle-are-on-the-verge-of-becoming-one-of-the-worlds-richest-football-clubs) in Europe following their [takeover](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/pif-pcp-capital-partners-and-rb-sports-media-acquire-newcastle-united-football-club/) by the Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, so they have the resources to beat out competition for Kamara.
