# Fans on social media say ‘outstanding’ Adarabioyo would be ‘good signing’ for Newcastle

Newcastle United aren’t short of defenders with Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark at their [disposal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/ausfallzeiten/verein/762), but the Magpies have been leaking goals all season and need to strengthen their defence to boost their hopes of survival in the [Premier League](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/England-Premier-League).

Newcastle have conceded more goals than any other club this season (37 in 17 games) and have kept only one clean sheet, so it’s no surprise they’re on the hunt for a centre-back in January. *Martin Hardy* of The Times says the Toon Army are interested in Fulham’s [Tosin Adarabioyo](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/newcastle-united-january-transfer-news-boubacar-kamara-tosin-adarabioyo-xvjppqdkj).

The 24-year-old [joined](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tosin-adarabioyo/transfers/spieler/258878) the Cottagers on a three-year deal from Manchester City in 2020 and has gone on to make [53 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tosin-adarabioyo/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/258878) in all competitions, scoring one goal. Adarabioyo has featured in [19 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tosin-adarabioyo/leistungsdaten/spieler/258878) across the board this season, winning 10 and keeping six clean sheets, so fans on [social media](https://twitter.com/search?q=adarabioyo&src=recent_search_click&f=live) are open to signing him.

> Happy for him be a replacement for Clark. Upgraded backup option with potential.\
> \
> The entire defensive pool needs replacing with only a few exceptions.

> Tosin was a shining star in that team and is a very good defender…just because he got relegated doesn't mean anything

> Adarabioyo has all the fundamentals too be the same type of player as VVD, fast strong and tall and great on the ball

> Our defense is shocking but Adarabioyo has no PL experience, hence I said you can't say that with any degree of certainty.\
> \
> I'd take him though for sure.\
> \
> If we started next season in the PL with Lascelles, Tarkowski, Kelly and Adarabioyo as our 4 CBs I'd be comfortable.[#NUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

Adarabioyo has won [76 aerial duels](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136464/Show/Tosin-Adarabioyo), blocked 11 shots, made 70 clearances and averaged a tackle (19) or interception (32) every 32 minutes in 18 Championship games. He’s only been dribbled past three times too, so Newcastle could do a lot worse.

Time will tell if they bring him to St James’ Park, however.
