Fans on social media say ‘outstanding’ Adarabioyo would be ‘good signing’ for Newcastle

Newcastle United aren’t short of defenders with Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark at their disposal, but the Magpies have been leaking goals all season and need to strengthen their defence to boost their hopes of survival in the Premier League.

Newcastle have conceded more goals than any other club this season (37 in 17 games) and have kept only one clean sheet, so it’s no surprise they’re on the hunt for a centre-back in January. Martin Hardy of The Times says the Toon Army are interested in Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo.

The 24-year-old joined the Cottagers on a three-year deal from Manchester City in 2020 and has gone on to make 53 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal. Adarabioyo has featured in 19 games across the board this season, winning 10 and keeping six clean sheets, so fans on social media are open to signing him.

Adarabioyo has won 76 aerial duels, blocked 11 shots, made 70 clearances and averaged a tackle (19) or interception (32) every 32 minutes in 18 Championship games. He’s only been dribbled past three times too, so Newcastle could do a lot worse.

Time will tell if they bring him to St James’ Park, however.
