Freddie Woodman posted pictures of his face on Twitter at the beginning on November to announce he was taking part in Movember for charity and he’s since posted an update on Instagram showing his progress during a training session ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal.

The 24-year-old added a link for people to donate money and is having a giveaway for those that contributes. Woodman’s Movember challenge will be over in a matter of days, but the moustache he was sporting in the last picture shows he’s been taking it seriously.

A number of players are taking part in Movember for charity and it’s certainly a fun way to generate donations, but Woodman also has football matters to worry about with Newcastle currently bottom of the Premier League table after 12 games.

The Magpies are winless in their first dozen matches and have only picked up six points while being five adrift of safety. Woodman has made five appearances in all competitions this season, conceding 12 goals and keeping only one clean sheet.

A hip injury saw Woodman sidelined from mid-September until November, but it remains to be seen if he’ll make the squad to face Arsenal with Karl Darlow and Martin Dubravka ahead in the pecking order.
