Fans on social media laud ‘quality’ Joelinton for ‘class’ performance

Newcastle United rescued a point at home to Brentford on Saturday afternoon and Joelinton was one of many players who impressed. The 25-year-old, who earned a player rating of 8/10 by Chronicle Live, got himself on the scoresheet in the first half and could have scored a second in the second half too.

Joelinton has been criticised for his poor scoring record at Newcastle, but he finally got off the mark for the season and put in a performance that will have silenced a lot of critics. Fans on social media lauded the Brazilian striker after the 3-3 draw and hope he’ll score more moving forward.

Against Brentford, Joelinton had 71 touches, won six aerial duels, completed 75.6% of his 41 passes, created two chances, had four shots with two hitting the target, whipped in two crosses, had three successful dribbles and won two freekicks.

The 25-year-old, who joined Newcastle for nearly £40m in 2019, took his goal well too, finishing into the bottom corner from close range after a deflected effort bounced into his path. He now has one goal and one assist from 11 Premier League games this season.

Next up for Newcastle is a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal on November 27.
