Fans on social media aren’t getting excited as Newcastle are linked with Luis Diaz

Newcastle United have Allan Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy who can operate out wide, but A Bola (h/t Sport Witness) say the Magpies have their eye on another – Luis Diaz. Despite him impressing in Portugal, however, fans on social media don’t seem too excited.

The 24-year-old has been in fantastic form at FC Porto and is attracting interest from a host of European clubs as a result. A Bola say Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan are monitoring his situation at the Estádio do Dragão, so Newcastle have stiff competition in the race for his signature.

Diaz joined Porto on a five-year deal from Junior FC in 2019 and has gone on to make 113 appearances in all competitions, scoring 36 goals with 15 assists. The Colombian international has scored 11 goals and made two assists in 16 games this season, so it’s easy to see why there’s so much interest.

Newcastle’s attack would be improved with Diaz, but his €80m (£67.1m) release clause might be a stumbling block even with their lucrative resources. There’s no guarantee Diaz would make the switch either given he’s in such great form at Porto.
