# Fans on social media praise ‘terrific’ Isaac Hayden for ‘brilliant’ performance

Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday evening and Isaac Hayden was singled out by supporters on [social media](https://twitter.com/IsaacHayden65/status/1457092573315600387) for his performance.

The 26-year-old impressed in midfield, breaking up the play and frequently turning over possession, but he also bagged the equalising goal so his contribution was big on the day.

> Absolute brilliant from Hayden [#BHANEW](https://twitter.com/hashtag/BHANEW?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) cmon the toon! [#NUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> You're a terrific leader Issac and we'll surely have better days ahead with that attitude and team spirit. Plus the new manager will adore your graft and hard work. HWTL!

[Against Brighton](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1549641/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2021-2022-Brighton-Newcastle-United), Hayden played for 90 minutes, had 46 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 84.4% of his 32 passes, scored one goal from two shots, made five tackles, gave away two fouls, made one interception and drew one freekick.

The former England U21 international has made [10 Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/isaac-hayden/leistungsdaten/spieler/206225) this season, playing nearly every minute of every game under Steve Bruce and caretaker Graeme Jones. Hayden [looked](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/17333014.haydens-family-situation-means-still-wants-leave-newcastle/) destined to leave Newcastle when he was seeking a move closer to his family, but he ended up [committing his future in September 2020](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/isaac-hayden-and-karl-darlow-sign-new-long-term-contracts/) and has been an excellent servant.

Unfortunately, Saturday’s 1-1 draw doesn’t change Newcastle’s situation much – they’re still 19th in the Premier League and without a win this season. Hayden’s equaliser does buy the Magpies a point but doesn’t haul them from the relegation zone.
