Newcastle United are still waiting for their first Premier League win of the season after playing out a stalemate with Brighton & Hove Albion, but they did rescue a draw from the jaws of defeat.
The Magpies drew 1-1 with the Seagulls and Miguel Almiron was singled out by supporters on social media for his performance. The 27-year-old struggled to make an impact and was hauled off in the second half.
Against Brighton, Almiron played for 73 minutes, had 26 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 73.3% of his 15 passes, created one chance, had zero shots, failed to whip in an accurate cross, made one tackle, failed to make an interception or clearance and failed to make a successful dribble.
The Paraguayan international has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season, failing to score a goal or make an assist. Almiron has operated in a variety of positions in recent weeks without it leading to a different outcome, so his place in the side might be up for grabs after the international break.
Joe Willock and Ryan Fraser were unused substitutes against Brighton, so they might be an option if Almiron is taken out of the spotlight.
